
Coronavirus Cases in India Latest Update, Covid-19 Vaccine Registration Online, Covid Live Tracker, Covid third wave latest news August 7: More than 50 crore vaccine doses have been in the country with around 43.29 lakh doses administered only on Friday. Talking about the pace of vaccination, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said it took India 85 days to vaccinate 10 crore people. “India then took 45 days to touch the figure of 20 crore. In another 24 days, the figure reached 40 crore and in another 20 days we surpassed the figure of 50 crore,” Mandaviya said.
The pace of vaccination would improve further if the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) gives emergency use authorisation (EUA) to single-dose vaccine of Johnson and Johnson. The Serum Institue of India has already applied for the authorisation. The SII has also done it for Covovax vaccine.
India reported 38,628 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the overall Covid-19 tally to 3,18,95,385, according to data from the Union health ministry on Saturday. With 617 fresh fatalities, the Covid-19 death toll climbed to 4,27,371, it said. The active Covid-19 cases in the country have declined to 4,12,153 and now account for 1.29 per cent of the total infections.
Meanwhile, the number of cases being reported from Kerala still remains a cause of concern for health officials. The southern state is still reporting around 20,000 cases almost on a daily basis. Some of the worst affected districts in Kerala are Malappuram, Ernakulam, and Thrissur.
Another cause of concern for the government is the rise in the number of cases of Delta variant, which is more dangerous because of its higher transmissibility. Panic gripped the people of Maharashtra’s Nashik after the district recorded thirty cases of the Delta variant altogether. The administration has tightened restrictions in the area and has requested people to follow covid appropriate behaviour.

Haryana on Saturday reported one COVID-19 related fatality, taking the cumulative toll to 9,648 while 18 new infections pushed the total case count to 7,70,060. According to the health department's daily bulletin, the latest death was reported from Sirsa district.
Among the new cases, nine were from Gurugram and five from Faridabad district. The total number of active cases in the state was 685. The total recoveries so far were 7,59,727. The recovery rate was 98.66 percent, the bulletin said. (PTI)
All weekly markets in the national capital will reopen from August 9, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday. The weekly markets were closed after the lockdown was imposed in Delhi on April 19 due to the surge in cases during the second Covid wave.
Later, one weekly market in each municipal zone was allowed to open with proper adherence to Covid-appropriate behaviour and official guidelines. The chief minister said his government is concerned about the livelihoods of poor associated with these markets and urged people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour.
"Weekly markets are being opened from Monday. These r poor people. Govt is quite concerned about their livelihoods. However, everyone's health and lives are also imp. I urge everyone to follow Covid appropriate behaviour after these mkts are opened," he tweeted. (PTI)

Mumbai on Saturday reported 331 coronavirus positive cases and five fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 7,37,193 and the toll to 15,942, the city civic body said. With 473 patients discharged during the day, the overall number of recoveries in Mumbai reached 7,14,639, leaving the city with 4,196 active cases, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report said.
The case recovery rate in Mumbai now stands at 97 per cent. The case doubling time has reached 1,642 days, the report said. With 35,264 new tests, the number of samples tested so far in Mumbai has gone up to 83,79,141, it said. Mumbai has four active containment zones. A total of 36 buildings remain sealed because of COVID-19 cases found there. (PTI)
Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally rose to 3,47,336 on Saturday as 32 more people tested positive for the infection, while one fresh fatality pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 5,130, a health bulletin said.
Ranchi district registered the highest number of new cases at seven, followed by five in East Singhbhum, it said, adding that the fresh fatality was recorded in Bokaro. The state now has 226 active cases, while 3,41,980 people have recovered from the disease to date.
Madhya Pradesh on Saturday recorded 13 new cases of COVID-19 that took its tally of infections to 7,91,950, while the toll stood at 10,514, as no fresh fatalities were reported, an official from the state health department said. The count of recoveries has reached 7,81,280, which leaves the central state with 156 active cases, the official said. With the addition of 74,511 swab samples tested during the day, the total number of tests conducted in the state so far rose to 1,49,39,051, he added. According to an official release, at least 5,63,843 COVID-19 vaccine jabs were given during the day, taking the total number of doses administered till date to 3,47,86,003.

Kerala on Saturday reported 20,367 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 139 deaths, pushing the total number infected to 35,33,918 andfatalities to 17,654 till date. As many as 20,265 people have been cured of the infection since Friday, taking the total recoveries to 33,37,579 and the number of active cases to 1,78,166, an official press release said.
In the last 24 hours, 1,52,521 samples were tested and the test positivity rate (TPR) was found to be 13.35 per cent. So far, 2,83,79,940 samples have been tested, the release said.
Some of the worst affected were people in the districts: Malappuram saw 3,413 cases, Thrissur (2500), Kozhikode (2221), Palakkad (2137), Ernakulam (2121), Kollam (1420), Kannur (1217), Alappuzha (1090), Kottayam (995) and Thiruvananthapuram (944).
Of the new cases, 83 are health workers, 86 from outside the State and 19,221 were infected through contact with the source of contact not being clear in 977 cases, the release said. There are currently 4,91,491 people under surveillance in various districts. Of these, 4,62,411 are in home or institutional quarantine and 29,080 in hospitals. (PTI)
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan climbed to 9,53,812 on Saturday as 19 more people tested positive for the disease, according to an official report. No fresh fatalities were reported. The death toll stands at 8,954, the report stated.
Of the new cases, six were reported from Jaipur and four each from Jalore and Udaipur, it said.
Twenty-five of Rajasthan's 33 districts did not report any fresh cases, it added. There are 237 active COVID-19 cases in the state, while 9,44,621 people have recovered from the disease so far, the report said. (PTI)
Addition of two lakh doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines has taken the number of jabs available in the national capital to over 8.81 lakh which would last for eight days, according to the Delhi government's vaccination bulletin on Saturday. According to it, 83,833 vaccines were administered in Delhi on Friday, of which 59,824 were first doses and 34,009 second ones.
So far, 1,05,59,669 vaccine doses have been administered in the national capital and that include 28,75,599 second jabs. Of the two lakh vaccine doses provided to Delhi on Friday, 1.5 lakh are Covishield doses and 50,000 Covaxin. The city's current stock is 8,81,320, the bulletin stated. Delhi's current vaccination capacity stands at 1,75,539 doses daily. (PTI)

Thousands of people were expected to march in Paris and other French cities during a forth consecutive week of protests against COVID-19 entrance requirements and what opponents see as restrictions on personal freedom. The demonstrations on Saturday come two days after France's Constitutional Council upheld most provisions of a new law that expands the locations where health passes are needed to enter. Starting Monday, the pass will be required to access cafes, restaurants, long-distance travel and, in some cases, hospitals. In the view of a possible third wave of coronavirus in the country, the BJP is a readying the world's largest volunteer health force and it aims to train 4 lakh people for it by August end, party's national general secretary Tarun Chugh said here in Saturday. The trained volunteers, of which 51,000 will be from Delhi alone, will help the needy with relief assistance in case the third wave strikes, he said at a Delhi BJP event. The Delhi Police has issued over two lakh challans between April 19 and August 6 this year to those found violating Covid guidelines in the national capital, according to official data. The maximum challans during this period were issued for face mask violation. According to the data shared by Additional Delhi Police PRO Anil Mittal, 2,00,691 challans were issued between April 19 and August 6 for various Covid violations. Of them, 1,69,659 challans were issued to those not wearing mask, 26,744 to those found violating social distancing norms, 1,842 for consumption of liquor, pan, gutkha, etc, 1,562 for holding large public gatherings or congregations and 884 for spitting, the data showed. None of the international players competing in the IPL will have to serve quarantine but the franchise members and families could face punishment if there is a "bubble breach", according to the health and safety protocols released by the BCCI ahead of the T20 tournament which will resume next month at the UAE. The remaining matches of the Indian Premier League, which was suspended in April after multiple bio bubble breach, will now take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 19 with the Chennai Super Kings taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians. "Breach of any Bio-Secure Environment protocols by franchise members or their families will be subject to disciplinary action by the BCCI," the governing body said in its Health and Safety protocols, a copy of which is in possession of PTI. The IPL will see participation of players from across the globe, including from Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa, West Indies and Bangladesh, among others. According to the protocols, "All franchise team members must undergo a COVID-19 RT-PCR test, 72 hours before their scheduled flight ... All individuals must quarantine themselves and avoid contact with others after the RT-PCR test. "All members whose RT-PCR test result is negative may travel to the franchise's city of choice," it stated, which means that there is no quarantine for international players. The document also said, "depending on the country of flight departure, all international passengers arriving at Dubai airport are required to display a negative RT-PCR test report for sample taken between 48-72 hours before their scheduled flight. The Maharashtra government is planning to relax more COVID-19 curbs in the coming days but with utmost caution and will also take a call regarding the local train travel, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Saturday. Speaking at a function organised by the BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) undertaking to induct more electric buses into its fleet, the chief minister also said he met with the representatives of hotels and restaurants, who demanded further relaxations in timings beyond 4 pm, and explained to them that the curbs will be eased step by step. "The Maharashtra government is going to grant more relaxations, but we are taking every step cautiously. A decision will be taken for local train passengers as well. We need to ensure that these relaxations do not trigger another wave of COVID-19," Thackeray said. The state government recently introduced several relaxations in 25 districts, which have reported a low COVID-19 positivity rate, by allowing all shops to remain open till 8 pm. The government also allowed the resumption of schools for certain classes in urban and rural areas from August 17 onwards. (PTI)
There were growing questions and anger within the Opposition party ranks on Saturday over UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's decision to not self-isolate following an aide's positive COVID-19 test. Downing Street said the UK Prime Minister will not follow the government's 10-day quarantine guidance for people who come in close contact with someone who goes on to test positive for COVID-19 after a staffer's positive test following a visit to Scotland. The visit, earlier this week, is said to have been carried out in line with COVID protocols, and it is also claimed that Johnson has not been in close contact with the positive case. However, according to the 'Guardian', a senior government source told the newspaper that Johnson and the official in question were 'side-by-side' on several occasions. "The Prime Minister regularly visits communities across the UK and all aspects of visits are carried out in line with COVID guidance," a Downing Street spokesperson said. "The Prime Minister has not come into close contact with anyone who has tested positive," the spokesperson said. (PTI)

In view of the rising spread of Coronavirus in the state, the Karnataka government has announced a night curfew starting from 9 PM in the night to 5 AM in the morning. In another significant decision, the government has also decided to impose a weekend curfew in the state beginning from 9 PM on Friday and ending at 5 AM on Monday. For now, the government has said that the weekend curfew measure has been taken for a limited period between August 6 and August 15, the Indian Express reported. Odisha on Saturday reported 1,096 new COVID-19 infections, pushing the tally to 9,85,827, while the toll climbed to 6,366 with 64 more fatalities, a health department official said. Of the 1,096 new cases, 637 were recorded in quarantine centres, and the rest detected during contact tracing, the official said. Khurda district, of which state capital Bhubaneswar is a part, registered 389 cases, Cuttack at 92 and Balasore at 77. Boudh and Nabarangpur districts did not report any new case. Khurda also logged 27 fresh deaths, followed by Cuttack at 17. Four fatalities each were recorded in Balasore and Keonjhar, three in Mayurbhanj, and one each in Angul, Bhadrak, Boudh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Kendrapara, Nayagarh and Puri. (PTI)

China stepped up measures to protect its capital Beijing, as an uptick in coronavirus cases driven by the more infectious Delta variant spread across multiple cities in the country. The National Health Commission reported on Saturday 107 new confirmed coronavirus cases in the mainland for Aug. 6, compared with 124 a day earlier. Of the new infections, 75 were locally transmitted, the health authority said. That compares with 80 local cases a day earlier. Most of the local cases were in the eastern province of Jiangsu. Those currently outside Beijing in higher risk areas should temporarily postpone their return, and others should provide a negative COVID-19 test, according to details of a Saturday meeting by local officials reported by the Beijing Daily. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson does not need to self isolate even though a member of his staff on a recent trip to Scotland tested positive for the coronavirus, his Downing Street office said.Johnson visited a police college in Fife on Wednesday and a wind farm off Aberdeenshire on Thursday. Local media reported a member of Johnson’s staff who accompanied him to the police college and travelled with him on a plane tested positive for coronavirus. “The Prime Minister regularly visits communities across the UK and all aspects of visits are carried out in line with COVID guidance," a Downing Street spokesperson said. “The Prime Minister has not come into close contact with anyone who has tested positive.” Last month Johnson and finance minister Rishi Sunak both self-isolated in line with national guidance, abandoning heavily criticised plans to take part in a pilot scheme that would have allowed them to continue working.
