TMC office ransacked in North Tripura, leaders attacked on NH allegedly by BJP goons

Agartala, Aug 7 (UNI) A party office of Trinamool congress in Dharmanagar of North Tripura was allegedly attacked by the BJP cadres in broad daylight today when Chief Minister Biplab Kumar

Deb along with top officials inaugurating the circuit house and new jail while TMC leaders were attacked on national highway at Ambassa almost same time left five leaders injured and damaged their vehicles.

Trinamool congress leader Subal Bhowmik said that a few minutes after reaching of Chief

Minister in Dharmanagar, BJP cadres with the indulgence of deputy speaker and MLA of the city Biswa Bandhu Sen has resorted to attack in their party office. The cadres ransacked the office

and looted the valuables in presence of police. Despite repeated urges to restrain the hooligans, police played a mute role, which proved the link of police with criminals.

In protest against the attack on Trinamool congress office and non-action of police against the accused who attacked Abhisekh Banerjee and a number of TMC supporters during his Tripura

visit early this week, Bhowmik said, “We wanted to draw the attention of Chief Minister on the terror situation and attacks on opposition supporters across the state but he didn’t allow us; instead he was insisting police to resort baton on the agitators to clear his road.”

He pointed out in spite of indulgence of Chief Minister Deb, police did not carryout the order and diverted the his road and later police officers assured to take action against the accused persons after due investigation. The TMC leaders have demanded to bring deputy speaker in the ambit of investigation, as the incident happened with his instruction and in presence of Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, senior Trinamool congress leader Ashis Lal Singha who was also attacked on

National highway -8 at Ambassa while returning to Agartala said that some BJP cadres pelted

bricks and stone on their vehicles raising Jai Sree Ram slogan. Interestingly, the place where the vehicles were attacked several policemen including TSR were present and they allegedly attacked the vehicles in front of them.

“Two of our youth leaders Sudip Raha, Zoya Datta and Debangshu Bhattacharya were injured after bricks hit them on head. A vehicle was completely damaged due to brick pelting and hits of

rod and sticks. The leaders were traveling the vehicle got down and took shelter under behind it. Unfortunately, neither police came to rescue us nor chased the attackers to prevent them from violence,” alleged Singha.

He further stated that the attackers were standing a few metres away for long time after the incident but police didn’t have the guts to detain one of them. Trinamool workers gathered on the road and sit for blockade seeking justice but response of police was not satisfactory and added, “Trinamool workers would continue the agitation against the violence and vendetta politics even

with their own people and we shall not tolerate these.”
