I’m with you SuePJ. I loathe the other means of communication and lay down as a standard that communications must be by email. I have colleagues and contacts in very many countries of the world, mostly those than generate refugees or care what happens to them. I have to recognise that if you are already poor getting access to an email account means an expensive or impossible to get land line or 4G connection or paying money to go into an Internet Cafe whereas an Internet connection by WiFi is usually available often without charge. So I have to deal with 13 different ways of communication and each morning I spend around 90 minutes wading through what might or might not have arrived. The most annoying bit is when someone says “I sent you an email” and when I search for it, it cannot be found. Eventually they mean they sent me a message on one of the Social Media sites complete with advertising which I have ignored because I didn’t need a new pair of shoes that day.
I think as you are running a business you can lay down in your terms and conditions the only means of communication you will accept. After all you need your records to be all in one place not scattered across several platforms. I suppose, though, you are advertising your Gite on perhaps Airbnb and then you are forced to do business the Airbnb way.
Good luck. You have my sympathy.
