Olympic Silver medalist Mirabai Chanu felicitated at Leimakhong on August 06, 2021

Olympic Silver medalist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu was felicitated today by the Red Shield Division at Leimakhong military station. Major General Navin Sachdeva, Sana Mandel of the Dogra Regiment gave a rousing welcome to the Olympic Silver medalist.

The Major General while appreciating Olympia Merabi Chanu said that she is also a part of the army family. He said that when selection for the Olympic game is a dream for all sportsperson, Mirabai had proved to the world that hard work do counts.

In recognition of her hard work Major General Navin Sachdeva said that Mirabai Chanu is a role model of India. Saikhom Merabai Chanu, while speaking on the occasion, expressed credited her victory to the Prime Minister of India.

She said that hadn’t the government of India under the Prime Minister Nrendra Modi sent her to the USA for fixing her back she would not have become what she is now. She also thanked the people of the country as well as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief minister N Biren for congratulating her through phone called after winning the silver medal at Tokyo Olympic game 2020.
