Srinagar, Aug 7 (UNI) Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, former chief ministers – Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti – on Saturday condemned the militant attack that left a policeman dead in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.
The policeman was killed when militants resorted to indiscriminate firing at a police party in Kulgam on Saturday evening.
“I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on the security force in Kulgam in which our brave police jawan, Nisar Ah Wagay attained martyrdom,” Mr Sinha wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
He said that militants will never succeed in their nefarious designs and those responsible for such heinous acts shall be brought to justice. “My heartfelt condolences to the family of the martyr in this time of grief,” he added.
Mr Abdullah, who is the vice president of National Conference (NC), said that he is deeply saddened to hear about the death of Nasir Ahmad Wagay of J&K police, killed in a militant attack in Kulgam earlier this evening. “My condolences to his family. May Allah grant him place in Jannat,” he tweeted.
“Deeply saddened to hear about the policeman shot dead by militants in Kulgam today. Condolences to his family & may his soul rest in peace,” Ms Mehbooba, who is the president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wrote on twitter.
