Noida/Ghaziabad: Three community health centres, one each in GB Nagar and Ghaziabad districts, have bagged the state’s Kayakalp award, given to government healthcare centres across UP for good performance on various parameters.
The award is based on the quality and efficiency of services provided, basic hygiene, biomedical waste disposal, training of doctors, among others.
The three CHCs in Ghaziabad that have got the award are in Muradnagar, Dasna and Modinagar. The three GB Nagar CHCs are in Bisrakh, Bhangel and Badalpur.
While Muradnagar stood 5th, Dasna secured 17th position and Modinagar at 126th.
Dr GP Mathuria, former superintendent of CHC Muradnagar and current superintendent of CHC Modinagar, said, “The time I joined Muradnagar CHC, it had not secured such a position, but due to concerted efforts it achieved the 27th position in 2018, 11th in 2019 and now 5th in 2020. Our team focused on improving the overall look of the medical facility and made everything systematic. Also, emphasis was given on grievance redressal.”
Dr Mathuria took charge of Modinagar CHC in December last year.
In Noida, Bisrakh was secured 18th position, Bhangel 49th while Badalpur got the 129th place. A total of 215 CHCs that achieved a score of over 70 points were chosen for the award from across the state. The top scorers were Bhitergaon CHC in Kanpur Urban and Satrikh CHC in Barabanki.
Dr Yatendra Singh, medical superintendent of CHC Bhangel in Noida, said that the centre has been winning this award for the past three years.
“The external judges have always been very happy with our performance over various parameters. They are content with the general hygiene we maintain and the biomedical waste disposal and the ease with which we are able to handle large crowds on a daily basis,” Dr Singh said. “They have also been impressed with the training of our nurses and the knowledge of the doctors we have,” he added.
GB Nagar CMO, Dr Sunil Sharma, said, “The Kayakalp award is a thorough scrutiny of all sanitation and other parameters that would make a health centre stand out. There are two levels of scoring, both internal and external. We hope that by next year, all our CHCs will join the list.”
The Union ministry of health and family welfare, launched the national initiative ‘Kayakalp’ on May 15, 2015, to ensure hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness in the public health facilities across India.
Those district hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and health and wellness centres in public healthcare system that have achieved high level of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control are recognised and felicitated with a cash award.
