MYSURU: Mysuru has recorded zero Covid fatalities only once during the second wave of pandemic. District health officer Dr KH Prasad claimed there was no death of covid patients on August 1. Otherwise, the district has seen a death of covid patients in both urban and rural areas.
A health official said though Covid cases have come down and positivity rate has declined in the last few weeks, the district is still registering pandemic related deaths every day unlike other cities including New Delhi that have seen more zero covid fatality days. After July 18, the number of positive cases has slipped below 200-mark. In the last two weeks covid cases have been hovering just over the 100-mark. Though it has brought a sigh of relief among officials involved in Covid management deaths due to Covid has kept them worried.
Officials say most of the individuals who died with Covid had comorbidities. A 61-year-old from Periyapatna was in home isolation and he breathed his last in the third week of July and his death was confirmed later.
An octogenarian from Bylakuppe also succumbed in the same week. He was suffering from liver disease.
A 67-year-old HIV patient from Hunsur died three days after contracting Covid. He was also a diabetic. A septuagenarian fitted with a pacemaker too has died of Covid a week back. He was a resident of Mysuru.
