Gurgaon: The
Haryana Roadways will resume its bus services between Gurgaon and
Agra in Uttar Pradesh from August 7. Besides the regular buses, the roadways also plans to launch
Volvo bus services on this route.
The Gurgaon depot of the Haryana Roadways has announced that from Saturday, it will resume its Volvo bus service that was suspended last year due to Covid-induced lockdown and a sharp drop in the ridership. The roadways officials have claimed that the move will not only cater to the increasing demands of the residents, who had been complaining about the inconveniences due to suspension of the bus services, but also help the roadways to utilise its 12 Volvo buses that have been off the track for more than a year now.
“We are gradually seeing an uptick in inter-state public mobility. Residents have been raising demands to run buses to parts of Uttar Pradesh. So, we decided to resume the services from this week. We will be introducing Volvo service on this route. Initially, we’ll run just one bus, and depending on the ridership, we’ll increase the frequency,” said Haryana Roadways Gurgaon depot general manager Kulbir Singh Dhaka.
The first Volvo bus service on this route will run at 7.15 am on Saturday and reach Agra via Mathura. To ensure physical distancing and avoid boarding of passengers midway, the roadways has allotted only three stops—Palwal, Kosi, and Mathura. The same bus will leave from Agra after one hour of its arrival.
“An hour before the departure, a sanitsation drive will be carried out. Passengers should report to the Gurgaon bus stand at least half an hour before the departure to avoid any rush and overcrowding,” said another roadways official.
