MYSURU: Activists of the Mysuru district unit of the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU), along with members of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) assembled at the Dr BR Ambedkar Park in Ashokapuram in Mysuru on Wednesday, to protest increasing corporatisation across all sectors. The banner they united under was ‘Corporate Company, Quit India’, and demanded the withdrawal of the contentious agriculture and labour bills.
The protesters condemned the Centre for failing to regulate fuel prices, including that of cooking gas cylinders. They also urged the central government to increase the number of days of working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and provide relief of up to Rs 10,000 for the losses incurred owing to the Covid-induced crisis.
The protesters also expressed their ire at the Centre for allowing corporate companies to plunder the country’s natural resources. CPI(M) Secretary Basavaraju, CITU Shashi Kumar, G Jayaram, Balajirao and others were present.
