KCR visits the adopted town, interacts with Dalits

Hyderabad: The chief minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, visited his adopted village of Vasalamarri in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Wednesday and spoke to Dalit families and other people there.

He wandered around the Dalit colony for three hours and talked to the Dalit families about their problems. He visited about 60 houses in the colony on foot, went inside and inquired about their well-being and family situation.

KCR, as the prime minister is popularly known, expressed shock at seeing houses there in a dilapidated condition, and promised to provide double-bedroom houses to all homeless people.

He announced that 76 SC families in the town would benefit from the ‘Dalit Bandhu’ scheme, and that R10 lakh would be paid into the bank account of each beneficiary family from Thursday. He said the beneficiaries could spend the money as they wished, but advised them to use it to create a source of income.

He asked them to come up with good ideas to use Dalit Bandhu to their advantage, while during the interaction he asked the people what they would do with 10 lakh Rs. Some told him they would set up a dairy farm, others would buy tractors and others would do business.

The CM also instructed the district collector, Pamela Satpathy, to sanction pensions to the appropriate individuals.

KCR also visited other colonies and listened attentively to the problems raised by the poor women and elders and issued orders to the authorities.

Many have brought to the attention of the CM that their homes are in a low-lying area and are frequently flooded due to rain. The CM assures the construction of two-bedroom houses and asks the collector to follow the plan and ensure that the roads and drainage of the colonies conform to the plan.

He ordered the collector to provide a pension to about 20 female bedi workers within two days, after hearing that they were not receiving a pension.

While a woman was talking about the plight of the beedi workers, the CM remarked, “I know the plight of the beedi workers since I studied in a beedi roller coaster.”

When a Dalit family asked the CM for help for their daughter that his son-in-law work as a driver, the CM promised to give him a tractor under the Dalit Bandhu.

The CM entered a house and interacted with the family and asked if they would get pension, 24 power supply and Rythu Bandhu.

He gave the assurance of giving patelands to the poor Dalits and others from the government land available in the town.
