HYDERABAD: A jilted man stabbed a woman and then knifed himself at her house in Bowenpally on Wednesday. Both survived, with the women out of danger and the man, who was severely injured, said to be stable.
The woman, 22, who suffered two stab injuries, works as a salesperson in a supermarket near her home in Bapuji Nagar in Bowenpally. The accused, 25, who is from Jawaharnagar, is a chef but currently unemployed. The couple had been in a relationship for about four years and the accused was upset as the woman had been avoiding him, cops said.
“On Wednesday afternoon the accused came to the woman’s house. The main door was open and she was sitting in a chair in the front room. He accused her of avoiding him and then pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed her twice,” Bowenpally inspector K Ravi Kumar said.
As she collapsed on the floor screaming in pain, her panicked mother rushed there and tried to help. Meanwhile, the accused stabbed himself in the abdomen with the same knife and collapsed in front of their door, police said.
Alerted by neighbours, Bowenpally police reached the spot and shifted the injured to different hospitals for treatment. “The woman is out of danger. The man’s injury is slightly severe but his condition is also stable,” the inspector said.
Police registered an attempt-to-murder case under IPC section 307.
