Pornography Case: Mumbai Court Rejects Raj Kundra’s Bail Application

Mumbai: The Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday rejected the bail application of actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj Kundra and his associate Ryan Thorpe in the pornography case, saying that the release of the accused ‘will hinder the investigation’ and the alleged offense. ‘detrimental to the health of society’.

The court also considered the argument of the prosecution that the accused had deleted the evidence.

On August 2, the High Court in Bombay reserved its order on petitions filed by businessman Raj Kundra and his associate Ryan Thorpe that they be arrested in a case related to the pornography racket case.

During the court proceedings, the investigating officer told the court that 68 pornographic videos had been found on Kundra’s laptop.

Police added that a film script with sexual content was also found on Kundra’s personal laptop.

Kundra was arrested on July 19 by police along with 11 other people on charges related to the alleged creation of pornographic films.

Meanwhile, Crime Branch has appointed a financial auditor to investigate the money trail of Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty and their alleged involvement in the pornography case.

‘In the investigation, the Crime Branch found that transactions worth of crores were made from the joint account of Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra. The Crime Branch suspects that the earnings from the ‘Hotshots’ and’ Bolly Fame ‘app came into this account,’ the sources said.

They added that the police are also investigating whether money earned from the programs is invested in bitcoins.

Earlier on July 25, police said four Kundra employees had testified against him in the pornography case, causing him more problems.

Kundra has been named by Mumbai Police as the main conspirator who has filed charges against him under sections 420 (fraud), 34 (common intent), 292 and 293 (relating to obscene and immoral advertisements and display) of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) in addition to the relevant articles of the IT Act and the Immoral Representation of Women Act (prohibition).
