News  /   July

Zurich, Switzerland

ABB has announced that it is going to acquire ASTI Mobile Robotics Group (ASTI). This acquisition will help ABB to expand its robotics and automation offering which will make it the distributer of flexible automation.  This acquisition is expected to close in mid-summer 2021. The parties have decided not to discuss the purchase price. According to said Sami Atiya, President, ABB’s Robotics & Discrete Automation business, ASTI is the perfect choice as its industry-leading portfolio, comprehensive suite of software and deep domain expertise across growth segments is compatible with ABB. It will also help ABB to support its customers with the next generation of flexible automation. He also said that after this acquisition ABB will be the only company to offer a full automation portfolio of AMRs, robots, and machine automation solutions. This is going to be a game-changing move by the company for its customers.

According to Veronica Pascual Boé, CEO, ASTI, the vision of both companies is the same as they both support customers’ flexibility and competitiveness through accelerating automation. The companies will together accelerate the innovation plans, expand the global client base, improve production and execution capacity, and leverage ABB’s market access globally. ABB is planning to expand AMR sales and service support globally to 53 countries.
