Hey...i was looking for a new routine to follow for quite some time, am planning to do german volume training since I looked for something with high volume, low frequency, good pumps, and I like keeping it simple and doing more of one exercise then multiple exercises.
But I wonder if I need direct tricep work
This is the routine I want to do:
day 1:bench press and lat pulldown 10x10,
flyes and cable rows 3x8-12
day 2 off
day 3: squat and stiff legged deadlift 10x10
Cable crunches and calf raises 3x8-12
day 4 off
day 5: overhead press and barbell curl 10x10
lateral raises and rear delt flyes 3x8-12
day 6 off
repeat
do you think I should add some direct tricep work or are the high volume compound movements enough? I'm thinking about doing lateral raises and rear delt flyes at home on off days and replacing them on day 5 with something like skull crushers or pushdowns and dumbell curls. The problem is I come off a full body program without direct tricep work, and I'm not too comfortable with either tricep isolation exercise, and my main goal is to keep it simple, so the answer I want to hear is that my triceps are good with the ohp and bench. Tricep development is very important for me though. Any thoughts?

Should I add direct tricep work and do shoulder isolation exercises at home on off days or not
or maybe close grip bench press and curls 10x10 and overhead press 3x8-12?
And for the rest, believe me its a good plan for me. I rather do for example 10x10 flat bench than 3x10 flat bench, 3x10 incline bench and 3x10 dips or something. I like simplicity. And I don't need no skittles to recover from training a muscle hard once a week. Just let me do me and answer my question instead of questioning the whole idea, thats counterproductive. I hate all that flip flopping between all these ideas, I did a lot if that in the last few weeks. I am going to do German volume training and stick to it for 8 weeks no matter whatLast edited by bigbaba1; Today at 02:49 PM.

CAN YOU ****ING READ???? I ****ING SAID I MADE UP MY MOTHER****ING MIND, AND MAKING ME FLIP FLOP BETWEEN PROGRAMS IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE FOR ME. I EXPLICITLY ASKED FOR NO POST SUGGESTING OTHER PROGRAMS BECAUSE I COULDN'T MAKE UP MY MIND FOR WEEKS NOW I MADE UP MY MIND AND ITS A DONE DEAL. SO SHUT THE **** UP IF YOU CAN'T ANSWER MY QUESTION
seriously making me question that whole thing again is the worst thing you could have possibly did to me. Junk volume? Who gives a **** if I do 10 sets of 1 exercise or 3 different exercises? Shut the **** up. You already did damage to me with your post. I ****ing asked you to not do that

Wow, you're pretty f***ing fragile, huh?
I did GVT for a few blocks once. Was fun. Except for the squats. That s*** sucked. Made a ton of progress on squat and overhead press though when I got back to normal volume.April 2021.................16 week cut.................168 lbs

When you ask for advice, you may not get what you want. But that's the point. You don't know what you don't know. I'm informing you that German Volume Training is a massive waste of time for nearly everyone, but especially someone of your level. Attached are a couple of reputable sources on the topic.
Study on German Volume Training:
To maximize hypertrophic training effects, it is recommended that 4-6 sets per exercise be performed, as it seems gains will plateau beyond this set range and may even regress due to overtraining.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27941492/
Erik Helms on German Volume Training:
What that means is that as you’re increasing volume you’re going to get this kind of diminishing returns as the volume keeps going up. Eventually, you’re going to increase volume to the point where you’re not making further gains, you’re just doing more volume.

Again, you would be better served training with a proven novice / intermediate program, being consistent with it, and not making changes to the program.
Good luck with your training goals.► Intermediate Bodybuilding Classic Physique ► Renaissance Periodization Programming
