Arunachal CM Khandu meets Scindia, briefs on progress of Hollongi airport

Itanagar, Aug 5 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday called on

Union Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and briefed the latter about the progress of

under-construction greenfield airport at Hollongi, near here.

During his meeting with Scindia in New Delhi, Khandu said the work on the Hollongi airport

is on war footing and shall be made operational by 2022.

It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation for

construction of Hollongi airport on February 9, 2019.

He requested the Union minister to consider development of advanced landing grounds

(ALGs) in the state.

Besides pleading for conducting a feasibility inspection of ALG Tuting and Mechuka for

fixed wing operation, the CM reiterated for starting of fixed wing flight operation at Pasighat

and Tezu on priority, a Chief Minister's Office (CMO) communique said here.

The CM was accompanied by Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal East parliamentary constituency

Tapir Gao, state’s Civil Aviation minister Nakap Nalo, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, and

others.
