Why fully-vaccinated against Corona debarred from local trains :Bombay HC asks govt

Mumbai, Aug 5 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the Maharashtra government to file its say on allowing local train travel for all in Mumbai.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni gave the direction during the hearing of bunch of PILs seeking directions for allowing local train travel for vaccinated lawyers, journalists, and fully vaccinated citizens in Mumbai.
Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbhkoni informed the High Court that a letter from the State Disaster Management Authority to the Railways for train travel for lawyers would be issued by today evening while travel of journalist is also under consideration.
The court also suggested the state to make arrangements for a separate local train pass issuance to the people who are fully vaccinated in Mumbai.
The court adjourned the further hearing for a week till next Thursday.
On August 2, the Court had asked the government why people who had received both COVID doses could not be permitted to travel in local trains.
"What was even the purpose of taking both doses of the vaccine if citizens were expected to stay inside their homes even after taking the anti-Covid-19 jabs," a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta had observed.
