Renowned psychiatrist from US donates over 1,000 books to Oriental Institute in Thane

Thane, Aug 4 (UNI) A renowned psychiatrist, poet and musician from United States of America, Franklin Abbott, has donated around 1,100 books from his rich collection to the city-based Institute of Oriental Study, it was stated here on Wednesday.
Founder director of the Institute, Dr Vijay V Bedekar, told newsmen that the donation will prove to be an asset for the citizens of the lake city and a handy material for the research scholars here.
In 2019 Mr Abbott had attended an international conference at the Joshi-Bedekar College of the VPM and appraised himself with the educational work being carried out by the VPM.
He had also visited the library of the college and was impressed by the systems and the collection of books at the library here.
After his return to the US, he had expressed his desire to donate books from his collection to the Institute and finally, donated around 1,100 books on various topics to the Institute.
The donated books are on various topics including religion, arts, history, oriental study, tourism, photography, music, literature, arts history, geography, etc.
Dr Bedekar added that a separate block would be created for these books in the library of the Institute.
