    Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.37%

    Synopsis

    The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.37 per cent down at 14594.35.

    Agarwal said the global economy is showing clear signs of recovery. The second wave of Covid-19 is ebbing in India with total active cases at less than 20 per cent of May highs.
    NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

    Shares of Cipla (up 1.24 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories (up 1.0 per cent) and Lupin (up 0.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, Alkem Laboratories (down 3.09 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 1.14 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (down 1.13 per cent), Biocon (down 0.95 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals (down 0.89 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.37 per cent down at 14594.35.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 128.05 points at 16258.8, while the BSE Sensex stood up 546.41 points at 54369.77.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.

    Shares of Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, SBI, YES Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of D P Wires, Vardhman Acryl, Airo Lam, IIFL Wealth Mgmt and Shivalik Bimetal hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vodafone Idea, Inventure Grwth, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., AKG Exim Ltd. and Radaan Media hit their fresh 52-week lows.
