Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 4 (UNI) Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Wednesday told the State Assembly that triple lockdown will be imposed in places where more than 10 COVID-19 cases out of 1,000 people were detected.
Announcing changes made in the existing COVID protocol, the Minister said the lockdown will be imposed on the basis of positive cases from population clusters of 1,000 each.
Stating that the new lockdown strategy is based on population clusters, revising the previous Test Positivity Rate (TPR) method, she said shops except in triple lockdown areas can open on six days from 0700 hrs to 2100 hrs.
Urging shops to ensure social distance of 25 sq feet distance between customers, Ms Veena said it will be advisable that people visiting shops should ensure completion of at least one vaccination dose or carry the details of recovery from COVID or a negative certificate issued in the last 72 hours.
Stating that there will be no shutdown on Saturdays, the Minister said there will be no shutdown on two Sundays, August 15 and August 22, considering the Independence day and the Onam festival.
Not more than 40 people will be allowed in places of worship. The maximum people allowed for marriages and funerals will remain at 20, she added.
