The Centre’s decision to remove safeguard duty on the solar panels will make the modules cheaper by 14.1% and restart project implementation at a full speed. Solar power developers in the state said that due to the increase in prices, there was a slowdown in the implementation of the projects.
An executive member of Rajasthan Solar Association said, “Many projects were going slow because of the 30-40% hike in panel prices. Projects are bid at a certain price keeping in investments and margins. A small variation in panel prices are absorbed by the developers. But when the difference is as high as 40% in panel prices, it becomes unstainable. Hope the withdrawal of safegurad duty will expedite project implementation.”
Similarly, projects implementation suffered during the lockdown period.
