Ravi Dhaiya & Deepak Punia in SEMIFINALS: In 57Kg category Dahiya defeated Dahiya defeated Georgi Valentinov of Bulgaria by 14-4 in Quarterfinals in completely one sided match.
Earlier in Round 1 Ravi won against Oscar Eduardo Tigreros Urbano of Colombia by 13-2 with technical superiority to enter LAST 8.
Deepak Punia Wins in Last Seconds: Unlike Ravi, Deepak Punia won his bout only in last seconds. Punia was on the verge of elimination when he managed a master move to outclass Chinese Lin Zushen with only 5 seconds to go.

In the 86kg category Deepak Punia is seeded second behind Iranian Hassan Yazdani. Punia will be competing in the freestyle 86kg category event.
He was the silver medallist in this category at the 2019 World wrestling Championship and secured his berth for the Olympics. He has been in great form in recent times by winning a silver medal at the 2021 Asian Championships.
Ekerekeme Agiomor is the only male wrestler that is representing Nigeria. He won the men’s 79 kgs event in the African Championships in 2018 in Nigeria, bronze in both 2019, and 2020 in Tunisia and Algeria respectively.
“No one (Nigerian) has ever won a medal at the Olympics in wrestling, which is a challenge to me and a challenge to the whole team. I’m going to Tokyo to do my best and I am positive of finishing on the podium,” he said to The Punch.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya will be competing in the freestyle 57kg category event. He won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships in the 57kg category and qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.
Having recently won 2 golds at the Asian Wrestling Championships, Almaty, 2021, and in New Delhi, 2020, Ravi Kumar Dahiya had beaten European Champion Arsen Harutyunyan in the round of 16 and Japan’s Yuki Takahashi in the quarterfinals to earn a place in the Tokyo Olympics.
Eduardo Tigreros’ big break came when he won the silver in the men’s 57 kgs Pan American Championships in 2019.
Since then, he finished 9th in the World Championships in Kazakhstan in 2019. Most recently, he ranked 8th in the Pan American Championships held in Canada in 2020. His brother John Fredy has competed in Greco-Roman wrestling at the national level in Colombia.

Anshu Malik will be competing in the women’s freestyle 57kg category event at the Tokyo Olympics. She is just 19-years-old, and her gold medal finish at the 2021 Asian Championships holds her in a good state for the Tokyo Olympics.
Her father Dharamvir and uncle Pawan Kumar have represented India in wrestling, while her brother Shubham has competed at cadet level in India.
Iryna Kurachkina is coming to the Olympics after winning gold in the European Championships, 2021 held in Poland. In 2020, she finished 3rd in the European Championships held in Italy.
She finished 3rd in the World Championships in Kazakhstan. She originally was involved in athletics but was forced to give it up due to an Achilles tendon injury. After surgery and recovery, she was encouraged to switch to wrestling by coach Olga Zemtsova
