We're just a month out from the Met Gala's triumphant return.

After getting cancelled last year amid the coronavirus pandemic, "fashion's biggest night" will return on 13 September 2021 for a "more intimate" gathering, reports E! News, before it fits back into its regular schedule for its 2 May 2022 event.

Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, poet Amanda Gorman and tennis star Naomi Osaka have been announced as co-chairs for the September event, while Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri and Vogue's Anna Wintour will serve as honorary chairs. Chairs for next year's event have yet to be announced.

According to a statement shared by People, strict Covid-19 protocols are to be followed. "Currently, all attendees at The Met Gala on 13 September must provide proof of full vaccination and will also be expected to wear masks indoors except when eating or drinking," a spokesperson for The Met said. "We will update these guidelines as needed."

The theme for the star-studded event in September is In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. The exhibition debuting on 18 September 2021 will run through to 5 September 2022 and "celebrate The Costume Institute's 75th anniversary and explore a modern vocabulary of American fashion".

In America: An Anthology of Fashion, will open on 5 May 2022 and also run until 5 September 2022 and "explore the development of American fashion by presenting narratives that relate to the complex and layered histories of those spaces".
