PRAYAGRAJ: Ramping up the immunisation drive against Covid-19, the officials of district health department administered jabs to over 55,000 recipients by Tuesday afternoon and claimed to have covered one-third of the target recipients. The counting of recipients who administered jabs during a special vaccination drive is likely to cross 75,000 mark by Tuesday night. So far, over 13 lakh doses have been administered in the district.
Officials of the district health department have set a target of administering Covid vaccine to around 39.87 lakh people, including 27 lakh recipients aged between 18 and 44 and 12.87 lakh above 45 years of age. District immunisation officer (DIO) and additional chief medical officer Dr Teerath Lal told TOI, “We are making sincere efforts to cover maximum number of recipients in urban, semi urban and rural areas. We have taken up vaccination as many as 383 sites on Tuesday (August 3) itself to cover maximum number of recipients.” The DIO added that more and more recipients of all age groups are shunning their hesitancy and reaching the Covid vaccination centres to get jabbed. The strength of women recipients has also gone up manifold at the pink booth—special vaccination site for women—inside MLN MedicalCollege.
