A study published in The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health Journal has suggested that the number of children experiencing long-listing symptoms of Covid-19 symptoms is low.

Kerala is ending weekend lockdown, State Health Minister Veena George said in the State Assembly. Shops in the state can open six days a week from 7am to 9pm. Kerala wouldn't have a lockdown on August 15 and August 22.

With 42,625 people testing positive for the coronavirus infection in a day, India's total tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 3,17,69,132 and the active caseload increased to 4,10,353, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.

23,676 New Coronavirus Cases, 148 Deaths in Kerala | Kerala on Tuesday reported 23,676 fresh Coronavirus cases pushing the total infection count to 34.49 lakh, with 148 deaths. On Monday, the state had reported 13,984 cases after recording more than 20,000 cases for six consecutive days.

Amid a steep rise in Covid-19 cases, the Union government on Tuesday updated on the six-member Central team findings that visited Kerala last week.

Kerala reports 23,680 new cases, Maharashtra reports around 6,000 cases while Tamil Nadu around 1900. Kerala reports highest new cases in the last 68 days. Kerala accounts for 55.5% of new cases and 42.3% of India's total active caseload.

Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta inaugurated a 27-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and a 24-bed high dependency unit (HDU) at Sadar Hospital in Ranchi yesterday as part of preparations for a possible third wave of Covid-19.

In Mumbai, 412 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative figure of recovered cases to 7,12,729, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement.With this, there are now 4,616 active cases in the metropolis, said the BMC. The city also reported three more deaths due to the novel coronavirus, taking the fatality count to 15,911, the civic body said.As many as 29,033 coronavirus tests were conducted during the day, pushing their cumulative count to 82,41,334, it said.

Mumbai Reports 288 New COVID-19 Cases, 3 Deaths | Mumbai on Tuesday reported 288 new cases of COVID-19, slightly up from a day ago, taking the total to 7,35,659, while three more patients succumbed to the infection, the city civic body said. On Monday, the city had reported 259 COVID-19 cases and nine fatalities.

Tamil Nadu saw fluctuation of fresh COVID-19 cases with 1,908 people testing positive for the deadly virus on Tuesday, pushing the total caseload to 25.65 lakh. As many as 29 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours aggregating to 34,159 so far, a medical bulletin said. The state had been witnessing a slight increase in the number of new infections since July 29. On Sunday, the state added 1,990 new cases to its overall tally while on Monday it dropped to 1,957.

Delhi Reports 50 Fresh Cases, Four More Fatalities | Delhi reported 50 fresh COVID-19 cases and four more fatalities caused by the viral disease in a day, while the positivity rate stood at 0.08 per cent, according to a health bulletin issued on Tuesday. The city recorded four Covid fatalities after a gap of over 10 days. On July 21, it had recorded four deaths while five fatalities were recorded on July 20.

Indian American doctors raised USD5 million for COVID-19 relief in India, according to the AAPI. The fund raised by the influential Indian American doctors was used to provide 2,300 oxygen concentrators, 100 ventilators and 100 high-flow nasal cannula machines to 45 hospitals in India, the Association of physicians of Indian origin said on Tuesday.

Over 48 Crore Vaccine Doses Administered So Far: Govt | With more than 51.51 lakh Covid vaccines administered on Tuesday, the total vaccination count in India has crossed the 48 crore-mark, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday. More than 22 lakh vaccine doses were administered in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, according to a provisional report by 7 pm.

The Health Ministry on Tuesday said that the reproductive number, or the R-value, that indicates the extent of Covid-19 spread is more than one in eight states.

West Bengal's COVID-19 tally rose to 15,30,024 on Tuesday as 729 more people tested positive for the infection, while 18 fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 18,170, a health bulletin said. North 24 Parganas district registered the highest number of new cases at 86, while Darjeeling recorded the highest number of fresh fatalities at three.

91,100 People Received Covid Vaccine Doses in a Day in Delhi | The Delhi government on Tuesday said 91,100 people have received anti-coronavirus vaccine doses the previous day with 45,126 of them getting the second jab. The total number of vaccine doses administered in Delhi stands at 1,01,98,723, including 74,82,004 first doses and 27,16,719 second jabs, according to the vaccination bulletin. 

Covid-19 R-value More Than 1 in 8 States, UTs; Cause of Concern: Govt | The government on Tuesday said that the reproductive number or R-value that indicates the speed at which COVID-19 is spreading is more than one in eight states and UTs, including Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, which is cause of concern. The R number is a measure that highlights the number of people a coronavirus positive person infects, thereby reflecting the severity of its spread. A number of one or below one indicates a slowly spreading virus, while any number above one indicates a rapid spread. 

Assam Reports 1,182 New Covid-19 Cases, 13 Deaths | Assam's COVID-19 tally rose to 5,69,439 on Tuesday as 1,182 more people tested positive for the infection, while 13 fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 5,037, a health bulletin said. Kamrup Metropolitan district reported the highest number of new cases at 177, followed by Barpeta (75) and Golaghat (74).
