Noida/Ghaziabad: Of the 21,820
students who appeared for the
Class 10
CBSE boards in Gautam Budh Nagar, 98.36% cleared the exams, whose
results were declared on Tuesday. Since the formal exam did not take place this year because of Covid, no topper has been announced by the board. The results of some students are still awaited.
“Girls outdid boys yet again with 98.78% girls clearing the exam, compared to 98.08%,” CBSE regional officer (GB Nagar) Piyush Kumar Sharma. Data from prominent private
schools indicates that several students from DPS Greater Noida, Amity International School and Somerville School got nearly-perfect scores.
At DPS Greater Noida, the top scorers were Ankur Chongdar and Priyanshu Chamoli, who got 499 out of 500 marks (best of five), a score of 99.8%. “The result reflects the indomitable spirit of young children. We commend all teachers who supported children during this difficult period of their learning,” said Sandhya Awasthi, the principal.
Amity International student Shubhi Bhatia and Ishaan Raina from Somerville too achieved a score of 99.8%.
At DPS Noida, the top scorer was Tanvi Srivastava at 99%. “It is an indescribable feeling to secure the first position in my school. I have learnt that hard work and discipline always pay off,” Tanvi said.
“In keeping with DPS Noida's inclusive approach towards education, the school has notched up an impressive aggregate average of 91.69 % which is 2.06% higher than that of the previous year. The result has brought tremendous cheer to our students and their families who have struggled through the uncertainties and challenges of the pandemic year,” principal Kamini Bhasin said.
Other high scorers include Soham Agarwal from Shiv Nadar School (99.4%), Afia Fatima and Pratyush Gangwar from Manav Rachna (99.6%), Mekhla Dhar from Apeejay (99.4%) and Gauri Malik from Army Public School (99%).
In Ghaziabad, Vidhushi Sharma of Gurukul The School scored 99.8%. “I started preparing for the exams in September and then my parents contracted Covid. On one hand, I had to take care of my studies, while on the other, I was apprehensive about my parents health. There were no talks about suspension of exams at that time. I am relieved that we sailed through the crisis while I scored so handsomely in the exams,” Vidhushi said.
Tanishi Ahuja, who is from the same school, too secured a score of 99.8%. “My family got Covid in May and my father’s condition was critical, yet I had to continue with my studies when I was emotionally and physically drained. I was counselled by my teachers on how to prepare ourselves. The pandemic may have thrown challenges, but at the same time presented us with a solution which eventually ended on a good note,” added Tanishi, who wants to pursue an MBA course.
Aditri Narula of DPSG International also scored 99.8%. “We were up against something which was never experienced before. What we have achieved cannot be belittled because while we didn’t appear for regular exams, we appeared in very different exams and I am glad we passed with flying colours,” Aditri said.
