Andhra Pradesh one of eight states/UTs to achieve 100% in CBSE 10 results

But when it comes to the major states, only Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh accomplished the feat.
Andhra Pradesh had stood in the second place among all the states in terms of pass percentage in the CBSE Class X results last year (2020). Tamil Nadu had topped among the states with 99.61 pass percent in 2020 results, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 99.44 pass percent.
Of the 24,012 students who appeared for the exams from Andhra Pradesh this year, as many as 24,011 candidates cleared the exams, achieving 100 pass percent among girls and 99.99% among boys. However, the CBSE rounded it off to a cent percent result. The other states or the UTs, which secured 100 pass percent other than AP and Tamil Nadu, include Goa, Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Puducherry.
In view of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases during the ongoing second wave, the CBSE cancelled the board examinations for class X, which were originally scheduled to be held from May 4.
According to the CBSE, the results were prepared on the bases of an objective criterion developed by the Board. And if any candidate is not satisfied with the marks allocated, he/she will be given an opportunity to appear in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the examinations.
While 10 marks were allocated to the periodic/unit test, 30 marks were given to half yearly/midterm exams. Pre-board scores were the basis to award the remaining 40 marks in the overall 80-mark assessment.
Namrata Basudeb, a student from Sri Chaitanya School Madhurawada branch, scored 495 marks out of 500.
