Fulham are stepping up negotiations over a £7.8million deal for Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz.

The vice-president of his club Flamengo has confirmed talks are advancing with Muniz ready to reject a similar proposal from Middlesbrough - who Fulham face on Sunday.

The 20-year-old Muniz is understood to be close to agreeing a five-year contract after Fulham improved their initial offer and a deal is expected to go through.

Flamengo vice president Marco Braz told Brazilian media: 'We just sold Hugo Moura to Lugano and, one which can happen later, the sale of Muniz, in which we are still in negotiations.'

Muniz is 6ft 1ins tall and has been compared in style to Everton striker Richarlison, who played for Fulham boss Marco Silva at Watford and Everton. 

Muniz has lifted three trophies, including the Brazilian Serie A title, since breaking into the Flamengo first team as a teenager.
