Chandigarh, August 3

The Property Consultants Association, Chandigarh, has demanded the implementation of the Apartment Act in the city.

Talking to mediapersons here today, association president Kamal Gupta said: “Floor-wise percentage sale is important as any family member who has got his/her share in the percentage sale property can sell it in the percentage sale only. He or she can sell that much share and not more than the number of shares he/she owns.”

Gupta said if a person had purchased the property in percentage from someone else, then he or she would also sell only in the percentage. He raised the question that if a three-storey house on 10 marla in which three families live, then how does it make a difference whether the tenant or owner is living in the house and what difference does it make in public utilities/ facilities?

Association chairman Tarlochan Singh Bittu said on one hand the Government of India talks about affordable housing, while on the other it was making life difficult for the common man by bringing such a law in the time of rising inflation.

According to him, the government should take decisions keeping in mind the problems and needs of the common man. Vice-chairman Sunil Kumar said it was the need of the hour to implement the Apartment Act. — TNS
