New Renault Clio Lutecia Limited Edition revealed

Just 300 examples of the Renault Clio Lutecia will be sold in the UK, each costing £20,200

This is the new Renault Clio Lutecia Limited Edition - the first special edition version of the fifth-generation Clio in the UK, which gets more standard equipment and some unique styling tweaks.

UK production is limited to just 300 examples, with each costing £20,200. It’s available to order now, and Renault says that customers can take delivery in September.

Exterior changes over the standard Renault Clio include a new diamond black metallic paint job, darker rear window tints and brass-coloured trim elements on the radiator grille and bumper vents. It also rides on new 17-inch alloy wheels, which also feature brass detailing.

The Lutecia Limited Edition is based on the Clio S Edition in regards to equipment. This means buyers get climate control, interior ambient lighting and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster. However, Renault has improved the car’s specification by adding a 9.3-inch infotainment screen with sat-nav.

Buyers also get active emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition. There are also front and rear parking sensors, along with a rear-view camera connected to the touchscreen.

There’s only one engine available in the Clio Lutecia. It’s a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol unit with 89bhp and 160Nm of torque, which sends drive to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

The powertrain offers a rather pedestrian 0–62mph time of 12.2 seconds. The trade-off is a decent fuel economy figure, which Renault claims is 54.3mpg on the WLTP combined cycle. Emissions stand at 119g/km of CO2.

The Clio Lutecia takes its badge from the ancient name for Paris; Lutetia. The name dates back to the Roman era and can still be found on some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Hotel Lutetia in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area, south of the River Seine.

The Lutecia Limited Edition is the latest in a long line of special edition Renault Clios. Click here for our round-up of the greatest ones to date…
