Resolution of Nagaland PCC Executive Committee meeting

Kohima, 2nd Aug 2021

The PCC Executive Committee in its meeting held on 30th July 2021 at Kohima had adopted 5 Point Resolution, out of which, three crucial points are reproduced here to spell out the stand of NPCC before the people of Nagaland and the nation.

1. On the Naga political issue and the impending final settlement, the state govt despite all its supposed concern and enthusiasm with other political parties in the state has not even bothered to consult NPCC despite the fact that INC remains the main opposition party in Parliament. Congress therefore cannot be faulted if the final outcome disappoints the aspirations of the people.

2. The rise of communal politics has created massive unrest across the nation with the idea of secularism and liberal democracy constantly under attack. With an objective to provide large tent for those who choose to fight and defeat the divisive and communal forces, the house took a decision to invite all former party men and women to come home and re-strengthen Congress which remains the only viable alternative in the face of regional parties surrendering their regional pride and compromising their principles at the feet of hindutva forces. The house further reached consensus to revoke all expulsion and suspension orders in the greater interest of the party and the people of Nagaland.

3. The house expressed its serious concern on the recent Assam – Mizoram border clashes and the continued confrontation. The Union govt should take serious note of the volatile situation and take urgent steps to deescalate the situation. Moreover, the economic blockade on Mizoram by different civil society organizations in Assam must be removed and adequate security be provided to ensure uninterrupted movement of essential commodities. The house further urged upon the Govt of Assam and Mizoram to settle the dispute amicably by understanding the context of political/administrative boundaries and traditional boundaries.
