55 schools warned of action over vaccination report

Panaji: The directorate of education has warned of action against 55 schools in the state, if they fail to provide details about the anti-COVID vaccination pertaining to their teaching as well as non-teaching staff by the end of this week.

“It is noticed that your school has failed to submit information till date,” stated a communiqué to these schools, further pointing out, “This is a very serious matter and now it is to inform that your school should furnish the said information by August 6, failing which action will be taken against the defaulter schools.” The communiqué, signed by deputy director of education (academics) S S Ghadi, further states, “Your attention is invited to our instructions via WhatsApp messages through Block Resource Centre (BRC) office dated July 18, 2021 asking for information to be furnished to the office of BRC regarding the number of teaching and non-teaching staff vaccinated with first dose and second dose.”

Out of the 55 schools, which are yet to send the said information to the DoE, most of them, numbering 33, are in Tiswadi taluka. The Salcete taluka has nine such schools, while Bardez has a lone school, which is yet to send the information.

Among others, Sattari, Curchorem, Mormugao and Ponda talukas have two schools each, while Pernem, Bicholim, Canacona and Quepem talukas have one school each, that have failed to forward related information.
