And after this amusing culture clash was broadcast to millions of people around the world, a Today show reporter asked everyday Tokyo residents to describe Australia and its people - with some amusing and heartfelt results.
'I think Australian people definitely say what's on their mind!' one local said on Tuesday.

One woman who was approached on the street said Australia's natural wonders were 'so beautiful' and 'so interesting'.
The comments come after Ariarne Titmus' swim coach went viral for his high-energy reaction to her incredible gold medal victory.
The 20-year-old athlete stormed home to win gold in the 400m freestyle over America's greatest-ever female swimmer Katie Ledecky last Monday, with Boxall's crazy celebrations being broadcast across the globe.

He ripped his face mask off and started running up and down the stands before screaming and gyrating as a staff member panicked in the background.
Boxall was caught on camera stalking the pool as his protégé approached the wall for her first gold medal, before grabbing onto a glass barrier and shaking it.
He then punched the air and screamed at the pool as a startled Japanese Olympic worker nervously tried to encourage him back into his section.

'I mean he is going crazy. Oh my goodness! He's putting on a show like Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones or something,' a startled commentator said.
The coach was later overcome with emotion and wiped away tears while Titmus took to the podium to accept her gold medal.
The Olympics worker who tried to contain Boxall's enthusiasm later vowed she would 'hold him' next time he tries that again.
