OnePlus Nord 2 explosion earlier this week brought back the memories of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 going up in flames for many smartphone users. There have been many cases of smartphones catching fire after that, however, Galaxy Note 7 has been one of the biggest with Samsung announcing a global recall of the smartphone. It’s too early to say anything in the case of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G’s explosion. The company too has issued an official statement on the explosion, terming it “isolated incident involving external factors”. The company had also responded to the user after which he had deleted his tweet.

Our top priority is the health and safety of our customers. We reached out to the concerned user immediately after hearing about this incident and initiated a thorough internal investigation. The results indicate that the damage to this device was caused by an isolated incident involving external factors and not due to any manufacturing or product issue. However, we remain in close touch with this user and have offered our support to address their concerns and ensure their wellbeing.

We would like to assure our customers that our products undergo thorough quality and safety tests, including various levels of pressure and impact tests, to ensure they are up to industry-leading standards and remain safe to use.

OnePlus Nord 2 5G explosion: Recap
In a tweet on Sunday (August 1), Ankur Sharma, a resident of Bengaluru claimed that his wife’s five-day-old OnePlus Nord 2 5G exploded inside her sling bag while she was out cycling early morning.

Sharma also shared the pictures of the burnt OnePlus Nord 2, which seemed to have been charred completely. He claimed that the explosion resulted in an accident and that his wife is in trauma.

Though he initially claimed that there was no physical interference with the device that may have caused the incident, he later deleted the tweet saying that he is fine with the company’s response to the incident.
