Helmed by Sukumar, 'Pushpa' stars actors Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead, while Fahadh Faasil has been roped in to play the antagonist.

The makers of actor Allu Arjun’s much-anticipated movie Pushpa, have a new update for fans. Confirming theatrical release, Mythri Movie Makers, the production banner bankrolling the movie, took to social media to announce that the first part of the movie will be hitting the big screens in December this year, coinciding with Christmas. They also unveiled the title of the first part of the movie, which is scheduled to release in two parts. The first outing has been titled Pushpa: The Rise. “This Christmas will be ICONIC. Icon Staar @alluarjun’s #PushpaTheRise Part – 01 will thrill you in cinemas this December,” Mythri Movie Makers wrote.  

Sharing the news, actor Allu Arjun added that the movie is scheduled to hit the big screens in five languages. “Pushpa – The Rise to release in five languages this Christmas,” Allu Arjun wrote on Tuesday. The multi-starrer movie will be released in five languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.  

Helmed by director Sukumar, the movie marks the first-time collaboration between Rashmika and Allu Arjun. Pushpa also marks the Tollywood debut of popular Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, who is set to essay the role of the antagonist. 

The movie was initially scheduled to hit the big screens on August 13. The plot revolves around red sandalwood smuggling and has been bankrolled by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar in association with Muttamsetty Media.  

Earlier this year, the producers, while announcing that the movie is set to release in two parts, had cited the reason behind the decision. "The storyline and the characters took on lives of their own and grew to a span that required the movie to be released in two parts," producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers told PTI.  

"The excitement we witnessed for 'Introduction To Pushpa Raj' was phenomenal and we are determined to take it all to the next level by releasing the film as a duology," Yerneni and Shankar added.
