CHANDIGARH:
Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu had a meeting with
party’s Dalit ministers and MLAs, second in a week, on Tuesday.
During the meet, an action plan for resolving the grievances of the Dalit community by the state government was prepared.
“Around 20 MLAs, including ministers, had extensive deliberations and brainstorming session with Dalit leadership of Punjab. They spoke in detail about the programmes and policies needed for the welfare of the Scheduled Caste community of the state,” a party spokesperson said.
“A detailed plan of action to take up Dalit issues for redressal by the state government was prepared keeping in view the demands and grievances of the community. PCC president reiterated Party’s commitment to fulfil the 18-point agenda and do even more than what is promised for the Dalit community at the earliest possible,” he added.
The meeting was followed by Sidhu’s interaction with
Congress workers from various blocks of district Nawanshahr along with working presidents Sangat Singh Gilzian, Kuljit Singh Nagra, MLA Angad Saini,
MLA Darshanlal Mangupur and the local leadership.
