Chennai man hacked to death by gang in Mylapore, four arrested

A 24-year-old fisherman was hacked to death in broad daylight as an act of retribution in Chennai’s Mylapore on Sunday afternoon. Two police men who noticed the accused fleeing the spot chased them and nabbed all the four accused. According to reports, Saravanan (24) of Nochikuppam had come to Pallakuma Nagar TASMAC on Sunday afternoon. It was then, a gang of four men started brutally attacking Saravanan with machetes.

An eye-witness later told the media that the men came running out of nowhere and all the men who were carrying machetes started attacking a man. “He was bleeding and died on the spot.” said the eye-witness.

Two head constables Viswanathan and Ramesh, who noticed about four men suspiciously fleeing the area, chased the men for over 2 km and nabbed the accused in a matter of minutes.

The two head constables who nabbed the accused handed over the accused to Mylapore police. The police upon further investigation found that the accused who belonged to Nochikuppam had been planning to murder Saravanan as an act of retribution.

According to reports, Saravanan had attacked one Mani alias Manikandan in 2020. Following this incident, Saravanan was arrested and released recently. The accused in their statement to the police had allegedly said that the gang had been planning to murder Saravanan for a long time due to past enmity.

In another case, a 60-year-old man was arrested by the New Washermenpet police for murdering his friend on Saturday over an argument in the influence of alcohol. Peter (55) was murdered allegedly by Vincent after Peter refused to give money to Vincent to buy alcohol. In a fit of rage, Vincent stabbed Peter with a broken tube light. Peter died on spot. Washermenpet police arrested the accused on Saturday.Meanwhile in another incident, one Alex was murdered in ICF of Chennai.
