The NSE Nifty index ended the session 245.6 points up at 16130.75, while BSE Sensex rose 872.73 points to 53823.36.
In the Nifty index, Titan Company Ltd. (up 3.88 per cent), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (up 3.76 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (up 3.45 per cent), Nestle India Ltd. (up 3.21 per cent) and State Bank of India (up 2.67 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
On the other hand, JSW Steel Ltd. (down 0.86 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (down 0.35 per cent), Shree Cements Ltd. (down 0.31 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd. (down 0.20 per cent) and NTPC Ltd. (down 0.08 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
