Gurgaon: Three men, in the age group of 25-30 years, were arrested by the crime branch for the alleged murder of a 26-year-old man in Sector 5’s Dayanand Colony in July.
The deceased was identified as Amit, alias Nepali, who used to work with a Punjabi dhol band.
According to police, all four, including the victim, knew each other and, on the day of the crime, were drinking outside a public toilet in Dayanand Colony. They had an argument and three of them killed Amit in a fit of rage.
On July 25, Amit’s body was found near the toilet. His face and body bore several injury marks, police said. A murder case was registered at Sector 5 police station.
During investigation, police found blood stains in the guard room. On questioning, MCG supervisor Gopal said that he got to know about the murder on July 25 morning.
“The public toilet is operational from 6am to 10pm, after which an MCG staffer, Sahil, cleans the toilets and goes home. Every morning I inspect the toilet. On July 25, when I came for inspection, I found police officers near the toilet and heard about the murder,” Gopal said.
Inspector Joginder Singh, in-charge of crime unit of Palam Vihar, and his team managed to arrest the three accused in the case from Sector 5 on Sunday. They were identified as Vikas alias Babuwa, Rohit Kumar and Rahul Saini.
During interrogation, it was found that Vikas and Rohit work in different shops in Sadar Bazaar. On July 24, Vikas and Rohit bought liquor from Bheem Nagar. They then met Amit and the trio had drinks near the guard room of the public toilet.
“After consuming liquor, they had an argument over money. Amit thrashed Vikash and Rohit and then went to sleep inside the guard room. In the meantime, Vikas and Rohit called their friend Rahul and they jointly thrashed Amit with sticks and stones leading to his death. They later dragged the body out of the room and dumped it near the toilet,” said ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan.
The accused were produced in court on Monday and taken into three-day police remand.
