Team South Africa’s pain continued on the track after sprinters Anaso JobodwanaClarence Munyai and Shaun Maswanganyi all failed to make the 200m final in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Running in the first semi-final, Jobodwana, 29, particularly struggled and finished 8th in a time of 20.88.

In the second semi-final, Munyai fared a shade better but also finished outside contention in 6th place with his 20.49 time.

Maswanganyi was the pick of the bunch, running in a brisk third semi-final, finishing in 20.18, which was also not enough to see him through to the final.

Canadian Andre de Grasse was the fastest qualifier in 19.73, followed by American Kenneth Bednarek and Aaron Brown, also from Canada.
