A minor girl was found strangled in Hyderabad's Alwal area on the morning of Tuesday, August 3. The police suspect she was killed by her ‘boyfriend’, a 20-year-old man. As per reports, the minor victim was an undergraduate 1st year student at a private college in the Alwal area. The 17-year-old went missing from home on Monday afternoon, following which her parents lodged a missing persons’ complaint with Alwal Police at midnight, said Inspector Gangadhar A.

The deceased’s body was found near a railway track at Bharat Heavy Electronic Limited (BHEL) colony which falls under the jurisdiction of Alwal police station. Based on the preliminary investigation, police suspect that she was killed by “her boyfriend or a person with whom she was in acquaintance”.

Speaking to TNM, the inspector said, "We found her body around 8 am on Tuesday as we were searching for her based on the complaint by her parents. The suspected accused seems to have some sort of intimate relationship with the deceased."

Police are also probing if the suspect has been stalking the deceased. "We are still investigating the case, given that prima facie, it is a murder. We are not giving out any details of the deceased as she was still under 18 years of age."

A case of murder under section 302 of the IPC has been registered with the Alwal police and is being investigated, the police have also said that they will add the relevant sections based on the investigation.

The girl’s body is being shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for the postmortem, after which it will be handed over to the parents. 

Last week, a man killed his girlfriend before taking his own life on July 29 in a hotel at Madhapur area of Cyberabad in Hyderabad. Both hailed from Bomraspet mandal of Vikarabad district. The police said that the accused killed the woman after an argument with her over marriage.
