Shocking footage shows the moment a mass brawl erupted outside a nightclub with a bunch of yobs traded blows and kicks on Saturday night.

Scores of men could be seen thumping each other while women scream in the background. 

The ugly scenes unfolded following what was believed to be an argument between two large groups of blokes after a night out.

Tensions then quickly turned to violence as the brawl spilled out onto a busy road with some of the thugs throwing punches in front of stalled traffic.

The fight kicked off outside Popworld nightclub in Sheffield.

In the footage posted to Instagram, distressed revellers try to break up the fight as yobs repeatedly whack each other.

Video of the incident was posted on the Sheffield Online facebook page and has  been watched more than 100,000 times.

Shocked locals quickly took to social media to slam the disgraceful scenes, saying they had blighted their home city.

Steve Moore raged: 'Absolutely pathetic, why can't they just go out and have a good time. They need to grow up.'

Shakira Sandord sarcastically added: 'Makes me so proud to be from Sheffield. Absolutely pathetic, they need to grow up.'

Nikki Scott commented: 'As a fully grown adult who still enjoys the odd night out, I will not be gracing the streets of Sheffield until these 'children' learn how to control themselves in public.'

Fay Grayson added: 'So scared of this kinda behaviour for my grandkids. Hate violence of any kind.' 

Helen Cee however was less surprised: 'Why are people acting so appauled? Fighting in town from booze has always happened..in every city.'
