Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.56%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of TIINDIA (up 5.03 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 4.78 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 3.43 per cent), Tata Motors (up 2.31 per cent) and Eicher Motors (up 1.79 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Exide Industries (down 1.7 per cent), Bosch (down 0.4 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 0.35 per cent) and TVS Motor Company (down 0.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 1.56 per cent up at 10342.6.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 245.6 points at 16130.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 872.73 points at 53823.36.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 ended in the green, while 6 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, YES Bank, Tata Power and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Nahar Capital, Cineline India, Zota Healthcare, Nahar Poly Film and Sarla Perform hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Vodafone Idea and Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
