Gurgaon: Factoring in the increasing population in areas like Bandhwari, Baliyawas, Gwalpahari, Ghata, Wazirabad and Kanhai, the municipal corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is planning to build infrastructure in these areas. The MCG commissioner has directed the chief engineer to draft an elaborate plan to build roads and sewerage and water connections for these areas.
“The engineering wing officials have been directed to make a plan in 10 days and submit it to the commissioner so that the infrastructure development is expedited in these areas. After the engineering wing submits the plan, the work will begin to cater to the growing population in these areas,” said an MCG official.
The councillor of ward 30, Mahesh Dayma, recently had raised the issue in the House meeting. He said that four of these villages which come under his ward have no water and sewerage connections. The residents of the village are dependent on the groundwater, which is already depleting.
“The villages under my ward are deprived of water. The corporation should at least provide canal water supply to these villages. The development of the villages, as they are under the corporation’s limit, should be done in a way that they at least get basic amenities. The villages, including Baliyawas, Bandhwari and Gwalpahari, are located at a height and the plan for sewerage and water connections should be done considering the topography of the area,” said Dayma.
Chief engineer Thakur Lal Sharma said that these villages have certain infrastructure, which needs to be upgraded. “The directions will be complied with,” Sharma said. The MCG officials said that development plans are also being made to build infrastructure for the villages recently added to the MCG’s limits.
