Naveen congratulates Indian women’s hockey team for semi final berth in Tokyo Olympic

Bhubaneswar, Aug 02 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today congratulated the Indian women’s hockey team on their spectacular win over Australia to seal the semifinal berth in Tokyo Olympic.
In a video posted on his twitter handle Mr Patnaik said , “Congratulations Indian Women’s #Hockey Team on the spectacular win over Australia to seal the semi-final berth in #Tokyo2020.
What a terrific game the team played against Australia! Keep the momentum going and wish the
team best of luck.”
Indian women’s hockey team earlier on the day beat Australia 1-0 to enter the semi-finals in the
Tokyo Olympics.
India will face Argentina on Wednesday. Argentina made it to the semi-finals by beating
Germany 3-0 in their quarterfinal match.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also congratulated the Indian Men Hockey Team on registering a
stunning victory in the quarter final against Great Britain and reached the semifinal in the Tokyo Olympics after a long 41 years .
Odisha Government is the sponsor of Indian Hockey team, both men and women for five years
from 2018.
Odisha is the only state that is promoting a national game in the entire country. The state is the
cradle of hockey and the government is putting a premium on hockey to help India regain its
dominance in global hockey.
