Mass cleaning programme launched at Tamil Nadu temples

CHENNAI: A three-day mass cleaning programme is being carried out at 539 temples across Tamil Nadu from Monday.
The list of temples includes Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple in Palani, Meenakshi Sundaraswarar Temple in Madurai, Aranganatha Swamy Temple in Srirangam, Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore and Thiyagaraja Swamy Temple in Chennai’s Tiruvottiyur.
In a press release, Hindu religious and charitable endowments department commissioner J Kumaragurubaran said corridors, garden and tanks on the temple premises would be cleaned. Vegetation on the temple 'vimana' will also be removed for which contractual staff and temple employees are being engaged.
