'Woot, I'm home!' Samuel Johnson reveals he's out of hospital and hopes to achieve a 'full recovery' - after being hit by a car while riding his bike

He spent over a month in hospital after being struck by a car on his bicycle, but Samuel Johnson is now back home.

The 43-year-old actor-turned-philanthropist shared the good news with his fans on his charity, Love Your Sister's Facebook page on Monday.

'Woot, I'm home! So, I got into a dust-up with a small white vehicle, and lost badly!' he began, sharing a photo of himself with his older sister, Hilde Hilton.

'Huge props to the gang at Ambulance Victoria, VicPol, The Alfred and The Epworth for putting this Humpty back together again.

'Won't bore you with all the medical stuffski, suffice to say I've been surrounded by a gang of experts, including the Occupational Therapist, who says it's OK for me to go back to work on "light duties" today!'

Despite being released from hospital, Samuel revealed he was still recovering from the accident, and would have to wear his neck brace for another four weeks.

'When you've been hit by a vehicle, little or otherwise, it can take a while to un-wonk yourself,' he continued.

'Full recovery is within my grasp, I've just got a lot more work ahead of me. I feel very lucky to be OK, but I'm worried about what cancer is getting away with whilst I am on the mend.'

Samuel started the charity, Love Your Sister, back in 2012 with his late sister, Connie, who succumbed to breast cancer in 2017.

The charity has so far raised over $13million for medical research into personalised cancer treatments for patients.

The Secret Life of Us star said he had 'a date with a hydrotherapy pool', before signing off his post with 'Slightly Wobbly Unicyclist'.

'I wish I didn't have to tell you this. Early Saturday night Sam was on his way to visit family when he was accidentally hit by a car,' she began.

'Our Ambos got him picked up and tucked away safely in hospital in record time. I followed them in. The fantastical medical staff are in overdrive taking care of his sore head.

'He's awake and not too happy that he doesn't have his pants - nobody loves a hospital gown. Hearing his voice is lovely, but can't wait for hugs when it's safe.'
