Telangana: Maoist killed in exchange of fire identified

Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) A day after a Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district of Telangana, the police identified the slain Maoist as Madvi Ungal alias Chotu.
The 23-year-old deceased, who hailed from Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, was also the brother of top Maoist leader Madvi Hidma, Bhadradri Kothagudem police said in a release.
Madvi Ungal was working as a member of People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA).
His body was handed over to his relatives on Monday after the post mortem at Bhadradri government area hospital, the police added.
With specific information about the presence of extremists,anti-Maoist elite force Greyhounds and special police had launched combing operations in the Cherla forest on Sunday.
During the combing operations, the security personnel came face to face with a group of Maoists resulting in a confrontation between the both.
An exchange of fire ensued in which a Maoist was killed while others managed to escape taking cover into the deep forests.
Police recovered a 303 rifle and two kit bags from the scene.
