THRISSUR: Police seized 155kg of ganja, which was being transported in a mini truck, at Paliakkara toll plaza on Sunday. Two people have been arrested in connection with the seizure.
They have been identified as Thekkepurakkal Shanmughadas, 27, of Ongallur near Pattmabi and Edathodi Arun, 27, of Paruthipra near Shoranur. The ganja was kept concealed in 96 packets in secret chambers made under the platform of the vehicle.
As per the statements of the accused, the ganja was being transported from
Vishakhapatnam, and it was meant for one Pramod at Aluva, according to Chalakkudy ACP C R Santhosh. Acting on a tip-off the police had intercepted the vehicle just after the toll plaza at Paliyekkara, the ACP said.
The seized ganja could be valued at Rs 1 crore in the retail market, the police sources said.
