THANE: Two habitual robbers were arrested for allegedly assaulting and robbing a 22-year-old driver and leaving him injured on the live tracks near Mumbra railway station on Sunday night, railway police officials informed.
According to the Mumbai railway police,
Nilesh Dhindale, resident of
Diva, had parked his vehicle in Mumbra as per his daily schedule and was on his way home around Sunday midnight.
“He was walking on the down direction of slow tracks to reach Mumbra platform 1 and board a train for Diva when the accused identified as
Mohd Rafiq Shaikh (22) and Irfan Salim Khan (36), both residents of Mumbra, who were loitering nearby, accosted him,” said a police official.
As per the victim’s complaint, the duo attacked him and snatched his money and mobile phone and pushed him on the railway tracks. Luckily, as there was not much railway traffic on the otherwise busy stretch, the injured managed to get up and approach the police and registered a complaint.
Based on his complaint, the Thane railway police registered a case under sections 394 and 34 of the
IPC and started their investigations and based on tip-offs, arrested the duo from their hideout in Mumbra, Sunday night.
