Itanagar, Aug 2 (UNI) Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Monday assured full support to Arunachal Pradesh for meeting the target of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) coverage by 2023,
a year ahead of the national target.
The Union minister's assurance came when a delegation led by Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein called on him in New Delhi on Monday.
Taking to micro-blogging site, twitter, Mein wrote, "Met Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat ji at New Delhi today. Hon’ble Minister appreciated Arunachal’s performance under JJM
and assured full financial support to achieve the target a year ahead in 2022-23 before the national target."
He appreciated that Aruanchal was one of the few states which received financial incentive for
better performance during the last two years.
The Dy CM said the Union minister also assured full technical and financial support for covering
all river basin especially perennial problems in Lohit, Dibang and Siang valleys.
Mein was accompanied by state Health Minister Alo Libang, Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal East parliamentary constituency Tapir Gao and others.
JJM is a flagship programme of the Central government in partnership with the State government, which aims to provide piped tap water in every rural household and public institutions by 2024.
